AMVETS

AMVETS is a patriotic program the organization offers schools and youth organizations as a resource for teaching children in kindergarten through 12th about their American heritage, civics, and citizenship.

All school age children k–12 eligible. Students in 2nd–5th grade can enter the poster contest and those who are in 6th–12th can enter the Essay Writing contest.

A teacher, parents, youth group leaders/mentors assists the student in the completion of the application form, attach it to the entry, and submit the entry and application to your local AMVETS post for local judging around the 15th of May.

National Awards for our high school students are—

  • 10th grade 1st =$375, 2nd =$250, 3rd =$150

  • 11th grade 1st =$500, 2nd = $375, 3rd = $250

  • 12th grade 1st =$500, 2nd =$375, 3rd =$250
